NURSERY:

This procedure sets out how the admissions system works for places in Gilmour Primary School Nursery.

Attendance at Gilmour Primary School Nursery does not guarantee a place at Gilmour Primary School Reception and parents must apply separately to Liverpool City Council for their child’s Reception place.

Application Procedure

Parents can apply for a place at Gilmour Nursery during the school year in which their child becomes 2 years of age, however admission to Nursery is in the September following the child’s 3rd birthday.   Application can be made by telephoning the school office or face to face at the school office.  Places are offered on a first come, first served basis, in order of application, usually in the Spring term before your child is due to start.  Once the 26 places have been offered and accepted, the remaining applicants will remain on a waiting list for the remainder of the academic year and will be contacted should a vacancy occur.

We offer 30 hours of childcare per week to 26 children, term time only.  Children must attend 5 days per week (6 hours per day, 9.00am-3.00pm).  All families are entitled to universal government funded childcare of 15 hours per week.   Your eligibility for 30 hours free childcare can be checked using the following link:  https://www.gov.uk/childcare-calculator.   Parents who are eligible will receive a childcare code – this must be obtained in the summer term, before 1st September.  Please note that if this code is not obtained by this date, then you would have to pay for the extra 15 hours per week.

Payment

For those who are only entitled to 15 hours free childcare, payment must be made for the extra 15 hours per week.  We charge the current hourly rate that we receive from Liverpool City Council for 3-4 year olds.  You will be advised of the current hourly rate when you are offered a place.  Payment should be made in advance at the beginning of the month using the school’s online payment system, Eduspot, School Money.   Nursery children can have a school lunch, which is £2 per day, paid in advance at the beginning of the week, or your child can bring a packed lunch.  All children eat together in the school dinner hall.

All Nursery children receive a free piece of fresh fruit each day and all children under 5 years of age receive free school milk.
